Warm, doughy goodness

To make a fine loaf of bread, one must first make a fine loaf of dough.

I want to do better with my life, to be better.

This blog’s intended to be a chronicle of how I progress, or perhaps a confession booth. Or both. Perhaps I’ll do this one entry and then none will follow, or perhaps I’ll be blogging here regularly for more years than seems likely. I do not have the slightest inkling, but the latter would probably surprise me more.

I want to be honest here in a way that I don’t really feel I can be elsewhere, at least not right now.

I could probably make a long list of things about myself I would change, but let’s keep it simple.

I’d like to lose the extra 100 pounds I’m carrying.
I’d like to practice healthy eating habits.
I’d like to spend more time doing creative tasks.
I’d like to spend less time wandering around on the internet.
I’d like to pursue my passion for writing more consistently so that I can actually get published.
I’d like to develop a stronger spiritual practice.

So that this post doesn’t seem like such a downer, let’s end it on a good note. How about that? You game?

I am a loving husband of an amazing wife.
I am a loving dad of two fantastic kids.
I am a person devoted to family.
I am addicted to my dog.
I believe in treating people well, with respect, and I do a pretty good job at this.

Welcome, welcome, whoever you are, even if you’re only me. I’m gathering all my ingredients, all the things I need to make my dough and let it rise.

By J. Parrish Lewis

J. Parrish Lewis was born and raised in Maryland. In his youth there, he and his brother had many adventures in the dogwood forests near his home. His nostalgia for these adventures has strongly influenced his characters, their relationships, and their perspective on the world they inhabit. He moved to California’s coast to earn his degree in communications and now lives with his family in the San Joaquin Valley. Lewis is profoundly deaf and uses American Sign Language to communicate. He enjoys hazelnut coffee, captioned movies, and walking his dog.
